Răzvan Nicolescu

Razvan Nicolescu is a well-known international expert on energy and climate change issues. He is now partner and Energy & Resources Industry Leader for Deloitte Central Europe, assisting executives in shaping the energy transition.

He has more than 20 years of experience in the energy sector, holding positions both in the public and private sectors.
Between 2009 and 2016, he was the Chairman and ViceChairman of the Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER) and between 2006 and 2008 he was the Romanian attaché to the EU, being involved in the EU negotiations on the energy and climate change package
Between September 2008 and February 2014 he held the position of director for Regulatory Aairs of OMV Petrom, the biggest Romanian energy company.
Razvan has begun his professional career in a German energy research institute and in 2014 he was the Romanian minister for energy without being a member of any political party.
He has an electrical engineering educational background and graduated from a Master’s in Business Administration Program at Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management. He attended several executive courses at Harvard Business School on strategy, Finance and M&A.
He has been visiting professor of the Academy for Economic Studies since 2019.
